Back to ‘What We Do’ Overview

The Research and Monitoring Working Group (RMWG) of the Beaver Hills Initiative (BHI) is a diverse, knowledgeable and enthusiastic group providing a great amount of valuable and critical information to BHI decision makers. The group represents a variety of organizations, including Alberta Parks (Alberta Tourism, Parks, and Recreation), University of Alberta, Parks Canada, Strathcona County, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, WorleyParsons, Alberta Innovates – Technology Futures, Nature Conservancy of Canada, and Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development. Members of the RMWG have expertise in a wide range of areas, such as ecology, geomatics, social sciences, land use planning, economics, education, and conservation.

The focus of the RMWG is to identify, promote and support relevant research in the Beaver Hills, consistent with the objectives of the larger BHI. This includes research in the natural, social and cultural sciences, economic and market analyses, and technological and best practices. Projects range from basic inventory and monitoring studies to experimental manipulation and hypothesis testing.
